Experienced eventing squad announced for Aachen Nations Cup


  • An experienced squad has been announced to represent Britain in the 5th leg of the FEI Nations Cup series in Aachen, Germany later this month (17-19 July). 4 of the riders are among the squad selected for the World Equestrian Games this summer.

    The squad has been named as:

    • Tina Cook riding De Novo News (owned by Tina and Jim Chromiak)
    • William Fox-Pitt riding Chilli Morning (owned by Christopher Stone)
    • Piggy French riding Jakata aged (owned by her father Wally French and Michael Underwood)
    • Izzy Taylor riding Orlando (owned by Di Davies, Irene Graham and Anita Dalton)
    • Zara Phillips riding High Kingdom (owned by Gleadhill House Studs Ltd)

    World Class eventing performance manager Yogi Breisner said: “We primarily use the series to give riders experience of competing in a team environment.

    “The exception to this is Aachen, which is always popular with our riders.

    “We hope that we will be competitive at Aachen, which is always a hard fought competition that takes place in one of equestrian’s iconic venues.”

    A less experienced squad finished 2nd behind a strong German team —including reigning world and Olympic Champion Michael Jung — in Strzegom, Poland last weekend (26-29 June).

    Britain is currently leading the series on 36 points, with France in 2nd on 27 and Germany in 3rd on 20.
