ShoeSecure, a horseshoe shield, took the Equestrian Business Award at the HorseScotland awards earlier this month.
The shield, “an innovation in horseshoe loss prevention and heel protection”, is made from thermoplastic polymer and prevents the horse’s front shoes being struck by the hind feet.
The HorseScotland awards, which took place on Friday 2 November, reward Scotland’s equestrian community for their contribution to the industry.
ShoeSecure was invented and designed by Muriel Colquhoun. She said: “It’s very satisfying [to receive the award] after going through the learning curves that I had to in order to get the product on the shelf.”
Muriel, who was awarded an MBE for her service to equestrian sports, added: “I’m absolutely delighted.”
ShoeSecure products start from £36.48 (excl tax), are re-usable and quick to attach — for more information head to www.shoesecure.com.
