Royal visit to Riding for the Disabled group’s birthday celebrations

  • The Princess Royal attended the Arundel Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) group’s 35th birthday celebrations on 10 June.

Rosettes were given to all the riders, and the Princess then presented Ethan Rolfe, 11, with the Astor of Hever Trophy for his performance at the regional event at Hickstead.

Long service awards were also given to volunteers and two ponies, Shamus and Conker, who both have over 16 years of service.

Joy Leggett, founder of the Arundel Riding Centre said she became interested in the RDA after arranging collections for the charity during shows held at the centre.

The Arundel RDA group is run on Tuesday afternoons in term time.

Joy now runs the centre with her daughter Alison Leggett, an RDA instructor.

“Arundel Riding Centre has been established over 50 years and the RDA group is truly part of its history,” said Alison.
