A beagle puppy stolen from the family who were walking her has been found safe and well, after an appeal in H&H.
Marble, an eight-month-old bitch belonging to the Sandhurst and Aldershot Beagles, was taken from the Bowdler family’s barn on 20 February.
Laura-Jane Bowdler, of Mattingley, Hants, said Marble was found dumped in woods on the edge of a housing estate on Friday (9 March) and handed into Burghfield and Goring Vets.
“She was hungry and exhausted and covered in fleas, but OK,” said Mrs Bowdler. “I imagine she had been out there for 48 hours, either dumped or escaped.
“The children are thrilled – we didn’t think we’d see her again,” she added.
Marble is now back with the Bowdler family. She will stay with them for another fortnight, before going back to kennels.
“She is still sleeping in the barn at night, but we have upped the security,” said Mrs Bowdler.
“My 10-year-old son Simon whips-in and is really looking forward to seeing her out next season,” she added.
With the help of other hunt supporters, the Bowdlers put up dozens of posters of Marble around the local area and several people reported seeing her the day before she was found.
