The Melton Hunt Club Ride has been postponed for a second time and hopes now to take place on 30 January.
The famous hunt race, held over three miles of natural hunting country in Leicestershire, was due to be hosted this year by the Cottesmore at Knossington.
It was originally scheduled for 27 November, but snow meant it was moved to last Sunday (12 December).
However, Melton Hunt Club chairman Joey Newton walked the course on Friday and found parts of it unraceable.
“We made the decision to give everyone 24 hours’ notice that it wouldn’t be happening so they weren’t left hanging on.
“The temperature went down to -4°C on Saturday night, so the decision made was the right one,” said Mr Newton.
“We’ll give it one more shot in January. The present entries still stand, but entries are also reopened if anyone else wishes to have a go.”
