At Hartpury, an equine degree is so much more than a piece of paper.

Choosing your university is a massive decision. Not every student will fit into every course. If you’re still unsure about where’s the right fit for you, Hartpury University Centre is still considering applications for September 2016 for our equine degree courses but they are filling up fast.

These courses include all areas of Equine Science, including with Therapy, Equine Business Management and Performance and Equestrian Sports Coaching. And during clearing, you could qualify for a £500 bursary for courses starting in September 2016.

Every aspect of our specialist campus is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to open the door to their dream career, while providing exceptional competition opportunities and supporting horses and riders in all forms of their development and wellbeing.

Choosing Hartpury for your equine degree means….

    •  Studying in a unique environment
    •  Benefiting from educational opportunities for all within world class facilities
    •  Countless opportunities to gain work and real world experience and network with key players in the industry
    •  Being supported by outstanding specialist teaching and coaching staff with vast industry experience within a research active community.
    • Making the most of significant equine industry links

We’ve had students complete their sandwich year with horse welfare charities in Egypt and with national magazines, but our new Rider Performance Centre, own commercial yard and Equine Therapy Centre, plus our three international equestrian events, also provide students with work experience and contacts within the industry on their doorstep.

We’ve even got two mechanical horses, Hercules and our new arrival Margaret, who can do dressage tests, jump and even hacking, and world dressage record holder Valegro uses our water treadmill!

Hartpury also offers a wide range of additional professional courses, training and coaching clinics, information sessions and industry trips that you can undertake alongside your degree to boost your CV and further explore the areas you are interested in – not only in equine but in our other specialist areas in sport, animal and agriculture. Plus you’ll have access to regular demonstrations, clinics and guest lectures by industry professionals and coaches throughout your studies.

Take a look at what life is like as an equine student on our 360 hectare campus here:

Some equine students will use their qualification to progress into general graduate career paths relating to teaching, sales, law, business management and veterinary, keeping horses as a hobby. Others move quickly up the equine career route; using the experience they gain at Hartpury to move into jobs in equine health, rider and sports, therapy performance, welfare and business throughout the UK and internationally.

Take Ellie Caisley for example, who has set up her own successful business, creating and selling high-end bespoke leather goods after four years as an apprentice saddler; Steph Bateman, a freelance equine journalist who has worked for Horse & Hound, or Sian Ellis, who is a welfare and research officer at the Horse Trust. One of our graduates, Amanda Bond, was the CEO of British Dressage and now leads a team of 250 staff as the Hong Kong Jockey Club Executive Manager.

And if you’re a dressage, showjumping or eventing star of the future, our equine academy can offer you all the support you need to hit the heights in your chosen discipline. You’ll be supported by a world class team of coaches and experienced support staff, plus you’ll have access to our multi-million pound facilities. We can also offer you competition support for high profile events and visits to top level riders and trainers’ yards. Take Hartpury graduate and professional eventer, Astier Nicolas, for example, who won the CCI4* title at Les Etoiles de Pau!
