The world’s most famous horse race, The Grand National, is watched by millions of viewers worldwide.
Always an action-packed race, horses need to jump well and have plenty of staying power to win. The Grand National is 4m4f and horses jump 30 fences — including the famous Becher’s Brook, The Chair, Canal Turn and Valentine’s.
Over the years many popular horses have taken the spoils — with some surprise winners too. H&H looks back in pictures at some of our favourite past victors including Red Rum and Mr Frisk.
The Crabbie’s Grand National takes place on Saturday 11 April, 2015. You can watch the action live on Channel 4.
