If you’re looking for a horse built for speed and famed for its athleticism, take a look at our selection of thoroughbreds for sale on the Horse & Hound website this week.
1. ‘Eye-catching presence’
Height: 16hh
Age: five
Gender: mare
Selling points: “‘Ruby’ is a beautiful, straight and elegant mover in all three paces. She is brave and bold to any fence and has great potential for BE. She has the movement, scope and speed to progress quickly through the grades. Ruby would also make a super hunter in the winter or team chaser. She is fantastic in traffic and hacks alone and in company. No vices.”
2. ‘Potential summer project’
Height: 16.3hh
Age: seven
Gender: mare
Selling points: “This mare is registered with Weatherbys and is good to box and catch. She has been a broodmare for two years and will need bringing back into work.”
3. ‘Straightforward’
Height: 16hh
Age: seven
Gender: gelding
Selling points: “This horse, by Alflora, is working well on the flat in a good outline and rhytm. He is a bold, careful jumper over both showjumps and cross-country fences and is schooling well over BE90 courses. He has hunted with the North Shropshire and Cheshire Bloodhounds, has been on fun rides and has been hacked out both alone and in company by a novice rider. A fun all-rounder. “
4. ‘Lovely temperament’
Height: 16hh
Age: four
Gender: mare
Selling points: “This horse with Commanche Run bloodlines is broken and ready to go. She has a lovely temperament and must go to a knowledgeable home.”
5. ‘Lovely mare’
Height: 15.2hh
Age: 12
Gender: mare
Selling points: “‘Zoe’ was produced to race but never had a racing career. I have owned her for the past seven years. Zoe was my first horse and she has an excellent temperament. She hacks alone and in company and is snaffle mouthed at all times. We have spent the past six years hacking around the Peak District National Park before relocating to Surrey. She is now for sale as I have had a baby and no longer have time for her. She has good paces and a careful jump. She is very easy to handle and will go out with mares, geldings or alone. She can also live out in the summer. We have done lots of road work and she will lead nervous horses who are not used to hacking out.”

6. ‘A lot of potential’
Height: 16.2hh
Age: nine
Gender: mare
Selling points: “This horse has been mainly used for dressage but she can also jump and has hunted and done cross-country in the past. She would suit an owner who is into competing as she has a lot of potential to do well in all disciplines. I have owned her for just over a year now and took her to my first dressage competition last June to be placed first with a score of 63.91% and qualified for the Sunshine Tour at Hickstead in September 2015. She is good to do in all ways, a little mare-ish but I believe it’s more her personality! Not a novice ride. She loves to work and responds very quickly to what is being asked of her. A truly beautiful horse with a lot of personality.”
