What the organisers say
The dressage and showjumping are on flat grass and the showjumping is designed by Adrian Smith.
The cross-country courses all run over well-draining land and ride well whatever the weather. The tracks are changed for each event, with the water always towards the end of the track. They suit experienced and first-time horses alike as there are alternatives.
What the riders say
Dressage & showjumping — “Dressage arena is set on the other side of the venue to the showjumping and cross-country, so nice and quiet.” “Dressage warm-up can be a bit tight.” “Some of the arenas are on the flat and a few on a slope, which can be tricky with a youngster.” “Showjumping is held in a small ring and warm-up.” “The courses are quite educational for young horses as there’s lots going on around the ring.” “Not massive courses, but educational to get young horses going.”
Cross-country — “Ideal courses for young horses. They do get tired though as there’s quite a big hill here — it’s also trickier to balance horses because of this.” “Good first-time tracks at each level.” “The warm-up provides a good space and nice inviting warm-up jumps.” “Offers a good variation in fence types, including some more brightly coloured obstacles.” “Requires a high horse fitness level.” “The water jump is fairly large and can prove slightly daunting for inexperienced horses as there are a number of jumps all around it, however I would still say this course would be well suited to green or young horses and riders.”
