William considers Tamarillo’s chances

  • Britain’s William Fox-Pitt will this evening decide whether to withdraw his first ride Tamarillo from the remainder of Badminton Horse Trials. The pair executed a reasonable dressage test, with some mistakes in the flying changes, to scoring 49.8 pen. This left them in ninth place at the end of day one.

“Whether to withdraw him is something we’re going to decide later in the day,” Fox-Pitt told HHO. “We thought he wasn’t going to be in a competitive position but we’ll have to see.”

Tamarillo has already been named as part of the British eventing squad for the World Equestrian Games in Aachen leter this year. Thus the pair’s fitness is of prime concern in the run up to the Games. Fox-Pitt suffered a nasty fall at the water at Rolex Kentucky last week; “I’m fine,” he confirmed today, “very luckily.”

Fox-Pitt will be riding Ballincoola this afternoon at approximately 4:30pm. Ballincoola was second at Bramham last year.
