Four things you didn’t know…
His damline goes back to Kassette, one of the few original Trakehners from the East Prussian Stud that survived the 600-mile march to escape the Soviet invasion in 1945.
Chilli is the fourth stallion William Fox-Pitt has competed. “His temperament is exceptional. He travels and rides alongside other horses but we wouldn’t lead him in a headcollar down the stable lines,” says William.
The Stones have seven Chilli foals, all chips off the old block. “Other people have bay or even grey offspring, but all mine are chestnut with a white blaze,” says Chris. “I struggle with my three children’s names, but have no chance with Chilli’s offspring.”
Chilli’s stud fee, which started at £650, is now £1,000.
