The 40 event horses who are eligible to try for the £1,000 first prize in the inaugural Racehorse Trainers’ Event Series final at Barbury Castle Horse Trials (7-8 July) will be announced in two weeks’ time.
The series is open to horses who are registered with Weatherbys and bred for racing. The 40 who qualify for the final, decided by British Eventing (BE) placings from August 2006 to the end of May, will be listed on the BE website, with connections notified by email or letter.
The charity Retraining Of Racehorses and the National Trainers’ Federation have put up a £5,000 prize-fund for the final, with £1,000 to the winner.
The final is at open novice level, with the dressage and cross-country on the Saturday at Barbury, and the show jumping in the main arena on Sunday.
