British Eventing’s inaugural Pony Eventing Championships will be held at Sansaw Park at the end of May
Pony event riders can look forward to having their own championship for the first time this year.
The Charles Owen British Pony Championship is to be held at Sansaw Park, near Shrewsbury in Shropshire from 31 May-1 June.
The three-day event is also a final selection trial for the British pony team to represent Britain at the pony European championships to be held in Hagen, Germany from 31 July, as well as selection for Ballindenisk, Ireland in October.
Four FEI pony trials held at Brougham, Lincoln, South of England and Withington have brought forward 33 combinations eligible for the championships.
“The pony team have been one of the most successful British teams and it is good that pony riders will now gain greater recognition with their own national championship,” said Ginny Keen, chairman of the selectors.
Prizes in kind will also be given by New Equine Wear and the event at Sansaw also includes a CCI**, as well as novice and intermediate sections.
