Pippa Funnell and Tina Cook withdraw from Badminton Horse Trials

  • There have been two high-profile withdrawals from the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials this morning — Pippa Funnell’s second ride Redesigned and Tina Cook’s Miners Frolic.

Redesigned, who was due to make his Badminton debut after finishing fifth at the World Equestrian Games last year, is not 100% sound.

And European champion Miners Frolic has a swelling on the wither, possibly caused by a bite or rolling in his stable overnight, so he is unable to wear a saddle.

These problems will be a great disappointment to Pippa and Tina, who would have both been hoping for a top-10 placing.

Pippa is still in the competition on Mirage D’Elle, who scored 56.8 for his dressage test yesterday.
