New Scottish venue for Oliver Townend Eventer’s Challenge

  • The Oliver Townend Eventer’s Challenge championship (OTECC) has announced a new venue in Scotland, at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre in Falkirk.

The indoor eventing and showjumping series has also added new regional qualifiers at Vale View Equestrian Centre in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.

“Both Vale View and Kingsbarn have great facilities, were exceptionally enthusiastic about the event and what we are trying to achieve,” said Simon Parker, founder and owner of the OTECC.

“We are particularly proud to be working with a Scottish location as last year we didn’t have a show there. We are once again a truly national event.”

For the challenge, competitors jump a mixture of cross-country and showjumping fences and the rider with the least jumping and time penalties, calculated around an optimum time, wins.

With 14 regional qualifiers now established across the UK, the final will take place at Aintree in December.

The prize for the winner of each class at the final is a day’s training with Oliver Townend.
