New champs for young event riders

  • British Eventing announces a new format for its junior and young rider championships

British Eventing has restructured its junior and young rider championships, which have traditionally taken place at Windsor Horse Trials (23-26 May).

An under-25 championship will be introduced at Bramham (three-star level) on 6-9 June, with under-18s (one-star) at Hartpury on 8-11 August and under-21s (two-star) at Weston Park on 3-6 October.

“We want to give young riders more support and these classes offer a goal for those who don’t get selected for the European Championships. Any rider within the age groups is eligible, providedthey are qualified under FEI rules to compete at that level,” said BE spokesperson, Winnie Murphy.
