Headley Britannia’s second foal by embryo transfer was born to surrogate mare Bear last Friday night, 6 June.
Lucinda Fredericks, rider and owner of the 2006 Burghley and 2007 Badminton winner, reported that the bay colt, who has no white markings, is smaller than her first foal, a chestnut filly born on 24 April, but is doing well. Both foals are by Jaguar Mail.
This good news should provide a boost for the Fredericks family, who have suffered some bad luck recently, including the loss of Clayton’s four-star ride Nullabor in a freak accident at Saumur.
