Final young rider eventing trial moves to Gatcombe

  • The final trial for the British squad for the young rider European Championships at Blair Castle (23-26 August) has been moved to Gatcombe this weekend (4-5 August).

The Jump Savings-sponsored trial should have been at Knaptoft last weekend, but the event was a victim of the wet weather.

The short-listed riders will do dressage on Saturday morning, show jump at 8am on Sunday and then tackle the British Novice Championship (intermediate level) cross-country track on Sunday at 10.30am.

Twenty horses come forward for the final trial. The selectors have added Lauren Shannon (Quixotic) and Elder Scouller (Pebbly White Stuff, pictured) to the original short-list.

Jolyse Clancey (On Air II) has withdrawn from the list, while Georgie Spence has chosen to run Trenear, who was on the list, in the British Intermediate Championships. She has Cottage Craft Spirals, Song For Gull and Running Brook II in the trial.
