Event riders suspended over fight at horse trials

  • Two event riders have been suspended by British Eventing (BE), following an incident at Subaru Houghton International Horse Trials last month.

Matthew Wright and Matthew Heath, both 29, were arrested on Sunday, 27 May on suspicion of assault at a party at the Norfolk site the night before.

They were questioned and released on bail.

BE said it had suspended both riders from competing as of 27 May until 12 June.

In a statement, BE added that it was “awaiting the completion of the police investigation before proceedings with its own disciplinary process” and would complete its own investigation.
