Event rider Jo Lomas died almost instantly, inquest hears


  • Leicestershire rider Jo Lomas died after her horse kicked her and she fell, hitting her head on a stone trough, an inquest in Loughborough heard on 11 October.

    Mrs Lomas, 49, who hunted with the Cottesmore and had qualified for the 2013 Mitsubishi Motors Grassroots Championship at Badminton, died almost instantly, said pathologist Michael Biggs.

    She was found in a field at her home in Pickwell, Melton Mowbray, on 5 July.

    Coroner Trevor Kirkman recorded a verdict of accidental death.
