Eventing fans have been invited to design a fence for this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials.
The competition, organised in conjunction with Goodyear tyres – the official safety and innovation partner for British Eventing – is to create a theme for a new cross-country jump.
“We look forward to receiving lots of different innovative themes,” said Ron Pike, spokesperson for Goodyear. “The most creative two will be incorporated into the existing template and put on show at the prestigious trials.”
As fences have to meet strict safety criteria, Goodyear is looking for a concept rather than a final design – so you can let your imagination run riot. There are no restrictions to materials that can be used or subjects that can be chosen – a famous city, underwater, futuristic or tropical theme, for example.
There are two categories: adults and under 16s. The winner of the adult category will receive VIP hospitality for two at Burghley on 1 September. The junior winner will be invited to Burghley with their family (a maximum of four) to preview the course, receive a framed print of their design – signed by official course designer Captain Mark Phillips – and have an exclusive tour of the stables.
The deadline for entries is 18 May. Designs will then be posted on the Goodyear site so people can vote for their favourite. For an entry form, visit: www.mygoodyear.co.uk
