Claire Lomas is the guest speaker for a lunch at the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials (6-9 September) on Thursday, 6 September.
Claire is paralysed after suffering a fall from her event horse in 2007, breaking her back. After fears of never using her legs again, Claire recently completed the London Marathon in her bionic suit. Claire aims to go on to cycle from London to Paris on a specially designed bicycle.
“Claire’s enthusiasm for eventing and living life to the full is contagious, her motivation infectious and her determination a stimulus to us all to ‘go for it’,” said event director Mandy Hervieu.
“The general public, but in particular many people in the sport of eventing who understand the risks involved in riding horses, have been inspired by Claire. Our lunch will be an opportunity to show your support and hear her inspirational approach to attaining targets and discover how she attacks her challenges.”
Blenheim Horse Trials will help Claire launch her cycling challenge and raise funds for Spinal Research, for which she is an ambassador.
Claire said: “I am very grateful to Blenheim for inviting me as a guest and helping raise money towards my bike challenge in aid of Spinal Research. Blenheim is one of the most beautiful events, and a fantastic day out for anyone. I am very much looking forward to it.”
This year the horse trials is introducing an option to pre-book a two-course sit-down lunch on any of the four days of the event in their smart new members restaurant, at £30 per person (excluding event admission tickets). For “Lunch with Lomas” on Thursday, 6 September, the two-course lunch package will be further upgraded to the corporate hospitality suite for the same price, with a £5 donation from each ticket going to Spinal Research.
