The cancelled 2012 Mitsubishi Motors Grassroots Championships is to be run alongside the 2013 championships at next year’s Badminton Horse Trials.
This year’s finals were postponed after heavy rain meant the cancellation of the event earlier this month.
“This solution will mean that no riders are denied the chance of taking part in an event at this iconic venue,” said Badminton’s Hugh Thomas. “We look forward to welcoming everyone next year.”
The rescheduled championships will be hosted as a separate class alongside the 2013 competition. Riders who also qualify the same horse for the 2013 championships will only be able to compete in one class under British Eventing rules.
British Eventing’s Mike Etherington-Smith added: “This is fantastic news for all involved and we recognise the hard work and effort that has been put in by Badminton Horse Trials and Mitsubishi Motors UK to help make this happen.”
All those who were due to compete in the 2012 championships will be contacted by British Eventing in the near future.
