Organisers of Blair Horse Trials are celebrating landing a high-profile headline sponsor — Barclays has signed up for the 2013 event.
Barclays — which sponsors football’s Premier League — has been involved with Blair since 2011, sponsoring the CCI*** and CIC***. The 2013 event (22-25 August) has been renamed Blair Castle Barclays International Horse Trials.
The success of Team GBR’s silver medallists at Greenwich may have been a factor.
“In 2012, we were just after the Olympics and before the Paras,” said Blair director Alec Lochore. “Barclays were taking calls from their offices in America and Switzerland asking if they could take clients to Blair.
“They like associating themselves with a leading Olympic sport and it is great to have them on board,” he added.
