Totilas out of action due to injury

  • Top dressage stallion Totilas is out of action again due to a breeding injury, his rider Matthias Rath has told a Dutch equestrian newspaper.

Hoefslag reported that the horse’s leg was twisted while breeding to a “phantom” to collect semen.

“For the next few years we have a number of goals and the important thing is [Totilas] remains fit. So we will certainly not force it,” Matthias told Hoefslag.

Since being bought by Paul Schockemöhle and Ann Kathrin Linsenhoff in 2010, Totilas has had a disappointing few years of competition.

He failed to win an individual medal at the 2011 European Championships and in June 2012 it was announced that he would not compete at London 2012, because Matthias was ill with glandular fever.
