Nicola McGivern donates Olympic dressage hat for charity

  • Olympic dressage rider Nicola McGivern has donated the hat she wore when competing at Athens in 2004 to raise money for charity.

The St Mungo’s celebrity hat auction, which ends this Sunday (6 November), is part of a series of events for the charity’s Woolly Hat Day (Friday 4 November) to raise money for homeless people.

St Mungo’s was set up in 1969 and provides housing and support to more than 1,700 homeless people, and their dogs, each night in London, Oxfordshire, Reading, Bath and Bristol.

Also on offer are hats from more than 40 celebrities – including Ricky Gervais, Joan Collins, Sienna Miller and Eric Clapton.

“To offer my Olympic hat was something I wanted to do,” said Nicola. “My home and the security that it offers me is something I cannot comprehend being without. To know that this hat with its history will in some small way help someone blows me away.”
