Mistral Hojris will not compete at Hickstead

  • The British team will be without Olympic individual bronze medallists Laura Tomlinson and Mistral Hojris (Alf) at the CDIO at Hickstead (1 – 4 August).

Laura has withdrawn her European Championship ride due to concerns that he will not be fully fit in time for the competition.

“He’s 18 and it wasn’t a risk we wanted to take,” said Laura. “He did Hagen (18-21 April) this year after 8 months away from competing and came out in great form so I have every confidence we’ll be on song for Denmark.

The selectors have replaced Laura with Nikki Crisp and her own Pasoa. The pair will join Michael Eilberg (Marakov), Carl Hester (Uthopia) and Gareth Hughes (DV Stenjkers Nadonna) in the team.

Alf, whom it is likely Laura will retire after the European Championships, will still be travelling to Hickstead to continue his preparations.

Laura will give a training demonstration with him, which will be commentated on by her father Dr Bechtolsheimer, in the main arena at Hickstead on Friday (2 August).
