Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro poised to be world number one

  • Charlotte Dujardin and her Olympic gold-winning ride Valegro appear set to top the FEI dressage rankings for up to 31 August when they are released later today (3 September) or tomorrow.

If the 27-year-old and “Blueberry” do go into the number one spot they will be the first British pairing to achieve this feat.

They will knock the Netherlands’ Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival off the top spot after 13 months at number one.

Charlotte and Valegro were in second place in last month’s rankings – 67 points below Adelinde – with Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris in third place.

But their double Olympic golds would appear to have catapulted Charlotte and Blueberry to the top.

A spokesman for the FEI said they could not comment until they had finished calculating dressage results from over the weekend.
