British mare expecting a foal by Moorlands Totilas

  • Dressage breeder Mitzi Stillebroer’s 12-year-old Oldenburg mare Mrs Rouse (Rubinstein/Donnerhall) has scanned in foal to dressage megastar Moorlands Totilas.

Mitzi contacted H&H to say that her mare is the first in the UK to be confirmed pregnant by the Gribaldi-sired World Cup champion.

Totilas was made available for the first time this year to just 100 mares worldwide by frozen semen for €5,500. Only 12 out of the 100 mares selected were British-based.

Mitzi explained: “Application forms including CVs of the mares’ achievements had to be submitted, out of which only the best mares were picked.”

Mrs Rouse has had seven foals, including a 2004 black Fuerst Heinrich colt sold at the Vechta elite auction.

The mare has a foal at foot by De Niro (pictured) at her owner and breeder’s Queens Orchard stud in Essex.

Mitzi added: “We’re very excited at the prospect of a foal from Totilas in his first ever season to stand at stud.”
