Anne Dunham, a grade IA paradressage rider, was born in 1948 and grew up working as a local stable hand while at school.
By the age of 16 Anne was running a yard of 80 horses at the weekends and knew that she one day wanted to compete.
Aged 27, Anne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and began using a wheelchair aged 30.
When Anne’s husband sold his business, Anne bought a competition horse at 40 and began her competitive career.
By 1996 Anne was competing in paradressage and took home gold and bronze from the Paralympics in Atlanta.
Anne’s success did not stop here, as she went on to take home gold from Sydney in 2000 and was later awarded the British Dressage Outstanding Contribution award in 2003.
Her career continued to excel as she took home gold from Athens in 2004.
Anne was then selected for Beijing in 2008 and won an impressive two gold medals and a silver, aged 59. In total Anne has won 12 gold medals.
In 2011 Anne was named The Sunday Times disabled sportswoman of the year.
Anne hopes to be selected for London 2012 with her two horses Teddy and LJT Lucas Normark.
