Anky van Grunsven’s top horse Salinero injured

  • Dutch Olympian Anky van Grunsven’s gold medallist and Kentucky World Equestrian Games prospect Salinero is out of action for the next three weeks having injured his withers.

Anky believes he incurred the injury when rolling in his stable and getting cast in the night.

She announced on her website (www.anky.nl): “In the morning, the right side of his withers was sore and swollen. The vet examined him and it seems that the capsule around the protrusions of the vertebrae of his withers is damaged.

“This in itself is not very serious, but because the saddle can’t go on, he is out of training for [about three] weeks.”

This should not interfere with her campaign for the World Equestrian Games. The final Dutch selection trial is set to take place at Hickstead in July.
