We have had a great start to our Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials assault. We all breathed a huge sigh of relief when Islanmore Ginger [aka Ginger] passed the trot-up yesterday — no backing out now!
I chose one of my lovely Sabre Cordoba bridles with a chain insert in the browband to add a bit of bling seeing we are at Burghley. I don’t like things too sparkly, but I wanted him to look a bit more jazzy than normal!
Today Ginger has done a fantastic dressage test. I can’t be more proud of him and how hard he tried for me between the boards. He even managed all of his flying changes – which seemed a definite impossibility a week ago.
He got 57, which is a brilliant score for our first 4-star. I couldn’t have asked anymore of him and everything went to plan. He has really done us all proud and he looked gorgeous thanks to my groom Dave.
Now I’m off to ride the youngsters, who will be here for the Burghley Young Event Horse finals tomorrow. I’ll let you know how we got on in my next blog.
