British and Irish Standardbred breeders now have access to the prestigious Alabar Stud’s top trotting and pacing stallions, thanks to Genus Equine.
A massive name in the harness racing world, Alabar has studs in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The stud is offering breeders frozen semen from proven stallions of the highest quality including:
- Ambro Operative, the only horse ever to win back to back Breeders Crowns
- D M Dilinger, Canadian Pacing Horse of the Year
- Barnet Hanover, a two-year-old flying machine
Colin Dargy, president of The Standardbred and Trotting Horse Association of Great Britain and Ireland, says: “The relationship between Alabar and Genus is bringing stallion material of the very highest quality into the UK for the first time since the 1960s.
“Harness racing is a burgeoning sport in the UK and Ireland, with 100s of breeders specialising in the Standardbred. Alabar Stud’s stallions will undoubtably play a major role in improving the quality, pedigree and performance of the breed inthe UK and Ireland.”
Genus Equine is very pleased with the initial response from breeders, with demand looking set to outstrip supply.
“There has been huge interest in the Alabar semen with nearly all semen from D M Dilinger sold already,” explains Carolyn Rycroft of Genus Equine. “This is a very exciting time for the harness racing industry and demand for these top bloodlines is high.”
