Great Britain is lying in fourth place at the European Young Rider Dressage Championships in Barzago, Italy with two more riders to go. Tests scoring over 70 % from Germany’s first two riders Benjamin Werndl and Dirk Viebrock propelled Germany into a 4.1777 % lead over the Netherlands. Third place is currently filled by the Danish team who are just 1.512 % ahead of Great Britain.
Britain’s Henry Boswell (18) gave an excellent debut Young Rider performance on DHI Faederlite ending the day in 10th place a score of 65.333%.
Holly Burrough (21) is in 12th position having gained a score of 64.444% with Orvieto.
Today will see Laura Bechtolsheimer (20) and Maria Eilberg (21) attempting to move Britain up the leader board.
Bechtolsheimer finished fifth individually at last year’s championships in Denmark and will be partnering her talented Danish warmblood Mistral Højris, who was bought from Danish rider Hasse Hoffman earlier this year.
Eilberg, who has been getting senior international mileage under her belt with her grand prix horse Two Sox, will ride Topscore for the team.
Young Rider Chef d’equipe Jennie Loriston-Clarke is out in Italy with the team, along with team trainer Henk van Bergen.
