Hunting Bill at report stage in House of Lords

Today is the Hunting Bill’s report stage in the House of Lords, where peers’ amendments may be subject to a vote. After the third reading in the Lords on 15 November (Monday), the Bill will be reprinted as amended and returned to the Commons that evening.

The Commons will consider amendments on 16, 17 or 18 November. They can accept or reject amendments, probably by voting. It is possible then for negotiation, or “ping-pong”, between the Houses to take place.

“Lobbying your MP — right now — is absolutely vital to encourage him or her to support licensing. This could be decided by as little as one vote. Two weeks from now, would you be able to live with yourself knowing that there was something you could have done that you didn’t?” says a Countryside Alliance spokesman.
