With Pony Club camp season upon us, make sure your little one doesn’t get left out next year with one of these pint-sized ponies. Take a look at our selection of small ponies on the Horse & Hound website this week.
1. ‘Has taught many children to ride’
Height: 12hh
Age: eight
Gender: gelding
Selling points: “This is an ideal first or second pony. He can do a lovely dressage test, has won showing classes, jumps and is great in gymkhanas. He has also taken part in all Pony Club activities. He has a perfect temperament and is good with children. Good to do.”
2. ‘Fun all-rounder’
Height: 12hh
Age: seven
Gender: mare
Selling points: “‘Arwen’ has been bought on very slowly as she didn’t have the best start. She needs quiet and gentle handling and riding. She is excellent to hack in all traffic. Arwen has behaved beautifully at local shows and happily jumped a small course being brave and careful. Done a couple of local dressage competitions and shows promise, lovely natural paces. Would suit an experienced pony club home were she would make an ideal allrounder. Would not suit a complete beginner. Serious enquirers only as a very sad sale but totally outgrown and not reaching her full potential with us.”
3. ‘Super first pony’
Height: 12hh
Age: 12
Gender: mare
Selling points: “‘Nutmeg’ is a super lead-rein and first ridden pony. She has the manners of a saint and a superb temperament. Hacks out and is good with all traffic and never gets strong or silly. She is snaffle mouthed. Will be a great competition pony or even still just a lead-rein/first ridden. Jumps a good course of BS fences and is used to all fillers, very well mannered in a show atmosphere both home and away. Fantastic cross-country. Also worked in a riding school with novice riders. One in a million, sort very hard to find.”
4. ‘The sweetest little pony’
Height: 11hh
Age: seven
Gender: mare
Selling points: “This registered Welsh Section A rides on and off the lead-rein. She would make an ideal show/Pony Club or family pony to enjoy at home. We have owned her since she was 18-months-old.”
5. ‘Really cute’
Height: 24cm
Age: four months
Gender: filly
Selling points: “This registered miniature Shetland filly foal is a real prospect for showing, breeding or would make an adorable child’s pony and friend. Deposit secures until weaning.”
