Producing any horse to stand champion in the show ring is a great achievement, and the following selection of riding horses were worthy winners.
Carrhouse Above Suspicion
This lovely seven-year-old produced by Becky and Chrissy Knipe stood riding horse champion at Warrington (30 May) for owner/rider Leigh Anne McNamee. It was a double for Leigh Anne, whose Carrhouse Chanel — Carrhouse Above Suspicion’s full sister — also won her novice hack class and stood overall reserve.
High Estate
Judy Harvey partnered High Estate to stand reserve riding horse champion at BSHA Southern Spring (30 April). Then Judy’s 19-year-old daughter, Georgia (pictured), piloted the bay to stand amateur supreme and overall reserve supreme behind Jayne Ross and Time 2 Reflect.
Casino
This lovely moving dark bay took the riding horse title at Herts County (28-29 May), one of three tricolours for producer Jayne Ross on the same day. Owned by Dianne Stennett, Casino also stood champion at South Suffolk Show (8 May).
Whalton Dimity
Gemma Bott’s sister, Sophie, normally campaigns this handsome bay, but Abigail Gresty stepped in at the Lancashire Championships (28 May) due to Sophie’s work commitments. The pair were BSPS riding horse winners, and also scored in the intermediate championship.
Corbally Lucky Boy and French Connection III
Vanessa Ramm’s horses dominated at Nottinghamshire County (14-15 May), Corbally Lucky Boy (on the left) heading the large section and French Connection III topping the smalls. Lucky Boy then stood overall champion with Martin Skelton in the saddle, while Vanessa piloted French Connection to reserve honours. Corbally Lucky Boy also topped his large riding horse class at Great Yorkshire Show (12-14 July) and went on to stand reserve.
Hot Gossip X
This riding horse took his second title of the season at Cheshire Premier (1 May), partnered by Jessica Goodier. The horse is based near Guildford with producer Leon King.
Broadshard Simplicity
BSHA Southern Spring (30 April) was the reigning Horse of the Year Show supreme champion’s first outing of the season, and he was straight back to his winning ways to take the riding horse title for Carol Bardo and Jayne Ross.
