8 riding horses who turned heads in the show ring

  • Producing any horse to stand champion in the show ring is a great achievement, and the following selection of riding horses were worthy winners.

This lovely seven-year-old produced by Becky and Chrissy Knipe stood riding horse champion at Warrington (30 May) for owner/rider Leigh Anne McNamee. This lovely moving dark bay took the riding horse title at Herts County (28-29 May), one of three tricolours for producer Jayne Ross on the same day. Owned by Dianne Stennett, Casino also stood champion at South Suffolk Show (8 May).

    Whalton Dimity

intermediate Champion 25 Whalton Dimity Abigail Gresty

Gemma Bott’s sister, Sophie, normally campaigns this handsome bay, but Abigail Gresty stepped in at the Lancashire Championships (28 May) due to Sophie’s work commitments. The pair were BSPS riding horse winners, and also scored in the intermediate championship.

Lucky Boy then stood overall champion with Martin Skelton in the saddle, while Vanessa piloted French Connection to reserve honours.
