Unfortunately I had to withdraw Bozzie (Cornacrew) from the Mitsubishi Mototrs Badminton Horse Trials this morning at the first-trot up.
He’s absolutely fine which is the main thing. He has an old scar around the back of his pastern which is from an injury he sustained as a three-year-old — I think his foot must have nearly been ripped off back then as it’s huge! Anyway, the scar opened up on the cross-country course yesterday so he’s a bit sore on that and we also did slightly crawl into The Lake so I think he’s a little bit stiff behind too. The combination of the two problems meant he wasn’t quite right this morning.
It’s really sad for everyone but as I said the main thing is that he will be fine and is happy in himself. The slightly annoying thing is that he will probably be fine by tomorrow, but there we go.
Boz was amazing yesterday so I’m just going to take that away with me. I’ve had a great time, it’s been an amazing experience and I’m really lucky that I’ve had some really good support.
I should just say thank you to Noble Outfitters for providing me with some lovely riding clothes. Also thank you to Andy Milner from S Milner & Son saddlers who rescued me after the tree in my saddle broke last week and provided me with a new Prestige saddle.
Thank you for following my blog from here at Badminton. I’m sorry that we didn’t quite make the end but Boz is still amazing and the best.
