German star Plot Blue retires at CHI Geneva

  • German showjumper Marcus Ehning’s stable star Plot Blue has been retired from competition.

The 18-year-old stallion was retired in an emotional ceremony at CHI Geneva at the weekend (12 December).

The son of Mr Blue retired from the ring in which he won the World Cup final in 2010.

“With one smiling and one weeping eye we gave Plot Blue his well-deserved retirement,” said Marcus on social media.

“Thank you to his owner Kathrin Somogyi for the years of trust, and for giving him this well-deserved retirement as a breeding stallion in his familiar home in Borken.”

The pair enjoyed much success over the years. They were also part of the gold medal-winning German team at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. They also took team bronze at the 2009 European Championships at Windsor.

Marcus and Plot Blue represented their country at the 2012 London Olympics, finishing 12th individually.
