Olympia ‘for sale’: organisers say show is not under threat

  • Olympia Exhibition Centre is up for sale, but organisers have told H&H the London International Horse Show is not currently under threat.

The venue, in Kensington, west London, is reportedly on the market for £300m.

The centre is owned by property company Capital & Counties (Capco).

“We understand that Capco are potentially going to put the Olympia Exhibition Halls on the market,” Jo Peck from H Power, which organises the London International Horse Show, told H&H.

“Whoever the owner is, the halls will continue to be exhibition halls and we are looking forward to holding many more successful Olympia Horse Shows in this outstanding building.”

This is the second time this year that fears have circulated around a popular equestrian venue.

In February the NEC in Birmingham was sold. The venue is home to Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA)’s annual trade fair BETA International, but organisers assured H&H that it would be “business as usual” — as it proved this year.
