Chloe Vell’s dressage blog: No time to waste

  • Since my last blog it has been a busy time and not always the most enjoyable.

I have been working hard and trying to balance my life with the efforts required to take my mock AS level exams which I find quite scary. The exams were difficult and I am glad to get them finished.

The only free time was spent playing netball and riding and absolutely no time for resting!

I am delighted to say that I did however, take and pass my England netball C Award umpiring exam Unknown-3and passed my UKCC level 1 coaching award.

Over half-term I took Kaja out to in order to get her back into the rhythm of travelling and competing. I was really happy with the quality of her work and the improvements she has made since her recovery from injury; her fitness is returning as planned too. We now need to contain all her excitement at being out and about, but we are on track.

I spent half-term buried in study but I enjoyed my regular lesson with Carl Hester working on the finer points of my junior test.

    Preparing for an international

I have some exciting trips to come as I am travelling to Florence this month for a photo-shoot with my sponsors Cavalleria Toscana for their new season campaign and I am thrilled to have been selected for the first international of the year at Addington CDI 18-22 March.

As a new sponsor to the show Mooi en Lief, for whom I am brand ambassador, are going to be present with their merchandise and their support. I always hoped to bring a non-equestrian company into the sport of dressage and hopefully it will encourage others to contribute to its growth.

Please come and talk to them and look at their products if you are at Addington — I would love to meet you.

All of Britain’s international talent from medium level upwards will be there, vying for the opportunity to to be selected to compete abroad. They would all appreciate your support and I wish all competitors, both British and foreign, a successful competition.

In my next blog I hope to have some very exciting news; I will keep you posted and whatever you are planning for your season, I hope this will be the year you achieve your dreams!
