British rider scores 100% in dressage test

  • A British rider is thought to have become the first person to score 100% in a dressage test.

Neil McIntosh and JazzBeat scored the perfect mark for a Materiale test at the Ottawa Dressage festival in Canada (30 May -1 June).

The “Materiale” class is for 3 and 4 years old horses and consists of 30 (10 x 3) points for conformation, 20 (10 x 2) each for walk, trot, canter and 10 for general impression giving a total maximum score of 100 — which JazzBeat scored.

Neil imported Jazzbeat — who is by Jazz out of Sandro Hit mare — from the Netherlands and only backed him in January.

“I knew the horse was something special when I picked him out of the field as a youngster,” Neil told H&H.  “But I was over the moon with mark.

I knew he was going well but I had no crazy expectations because it was his first competition. I am really excited about him for the future.”

Neil is originally from Aberdeen, Scotland but he has been based importing and training horses in Canada for the past 5 years.
