Eventing stars join the BHS hall of fame

  • Two popular eventing stars were last week honoured by the British Horse Society (BHS), as they joined the organisation’s Equestrian Hall of Fame.

Their names have now been added to other Hall of Fame inductees on the wall of Knightsbridge Barracks, opposite Hyde Park.

Zara Phillips’ much-loved World and European champion Toytown was welcomed, alongside team silver medal-winning Olympian and former H&H columnist Tina Cook.

Toytown has given me some of the greatest moments of my life,” said Zara. “He has a fantastic record and really deserves to be recognised, so I am honoured to accept the certificate for him.”

Tina added: “There are some legends of equestrian sport in the Hall of Fame and I feel privileged to be part of that.”

A ceremony was held at the Household Cavalry’s Knightsbridge barracks on 26 November.

The BHS Hall of Fame celebrates the heroes — human and equine — of the equestrian world, and includes legends such as William Fox-Pitt, Jennie Loriston-Clarke, Nick Skelton, Sefton, Milton and Over To You.

Selections are made by a panel chaired by BHS chairman Claire Aldridge and including Liz Edgar, Mary Low (née Gordon-Watson), Carl Hester, Lucinda Green and H&H Editor Lucy Higginson.
