New team challenge at Kentucky Horse Trials

  • Rolex Kentucky Horse Trials has announced that next year’s 4-star (24-27 April 2014) will include a new team challenge event.

The Dubarry of Ireland nations team challenge will award $20,000 (£12,440) in prize-money as an incentive for teams preparing for next year’s World Equestrian Games.

The prize-money for this event is healthy in comparison to this year’s eventing Nations Cup series, which offered a minimum prize-fund of just £1,500 per competition.

Dubarry explained that it had decided to sponsor the competition to work alongside its business in America, which opened seven years ago.

“For us as a brand that is busy spreading our wings internationally, it is a perfect strategic fit,” a spokesman from the company told H&H.

Teams will comprise three or four entries per country with the best three scores counting.
