Farewell to Somerley Park’s Adele Schardt

  • Adele Schardt founder of Somerley Park International Horse Trials and chair of the British Event Organisers’ Association, died of cancer on 24 October, aged 59.

Adele founded Eleda Stables, initially based in Verwood and then at Somerley Park, over 20 years ago.

Riders Chris King, Nick Campbell, Gubby Leech and Dannie Morgan have all been successful with team Eleda horses.

“Her loss to British Eventing is palpable and the legacy of her Eleda stables, riders and horses are testament to her skills and love of the sport,” said Suzie Cotterill, co-organiser of Somerley Park.
