Michael Jung still on course to defend European title

  • Although eventer Michael Jung, the current Olympic, world and European champion, has been spotted with his arm in a sling, it will not stop him defending his title at the European Championships in Malmö, Sweden.

The German rider developed an infection in a finger, which spread to his hand. But treatment with antibiotics is resolving the problem, says Christopher Bartle, who trains the German eventing team.

“He will be at team training and all looks good at this stage,” he said.

But Michael will be without his regular partner La Biosthetique-Sam FBW, who is sidelined with an injury, in Malmö.

He will instead ride the nine-year-old Halunke FBW, on whom he has won three CIC3*s and finished second at Boekelo CCI3* in the past 12 months.
