The 3 shire horses owned by the Wadworth brewery drew hundreds of well-wishes as they headed off for their annual 2-week summer holiday last Friday.
Prince, Monty (pictured right) and Max enjoyed their customary pint of 6X at The Raven pub in the Wiltshire village of Poulshot, before being led through the village to their ‘holiday home’ for the next fortnight — fields just a quarter of a mile away.
The sun shone as the horses were released. They kicked up their heels and cantered around the field, enjoying the attention from the crowd.
Jerry Edwards, landlord at The Raven said: “The Wadworth horses annual holiday gets more and more popular each year — Friday was our biggest turn-out yet.
“Adults and children alike enjoy seeing the horses up-close, with all 3 shires appearing to relish the attention.’’
The horses, who spend the rest of the year working for the brewery, are a familiar sight in Devizes as they deliver casks of real ale to the local Wadworth pubs. They return to work on Monday 26th August.
