Horse dies in Wales after being shot

  • A horse in Wales has died after being shot.

Vets believe the horse, called Dream, was shot in the stomach and left hind with a shotgun on Thursday 1 August.

The 15hh gelding was found lying in his field by his owner in Tirphil, Gwent.

Dream was treated by vets, who think he was shot at close range in his leg, due to the deep wounds. He had more superficial wounds to his abdomen.

Due to his injuries he was put down last week (Wednesday 7 August).

Gwent Police is investigating and appealing for information

A spokesman for the RSPCA told H&H: “Obviously this was a callous attack that caused a great deal of suffering as well as distress for the horse’s owners and we will assist the police if needed in finding who was responsible.”
