    • Horse & Hound Online is launching a brand new initiative aimed at recognising outstanding achievements within the equine world.

    The ‘Real Horse of the Year’ Awards aim to recognise and reward the most deserving horses from the following two categories: Competition Horses and Companion Horses. The Competition horse category is open to horses and ponies who have either been through a traumatic experience and come throughit against the odds to go on and compete successfully, or helped their owners overcome adversity to achieve competition success. The Companion Horse category is open to horses and ponies who have drastically improved the quality of their owners’, riders’, or carers’ lives.

    Do you know of an equine star who deserves to be the Horse & Hound Real Horse of the Year 2001? If so, simply fill out the application form below and either submit it online, send it by e-mail to
