Olympic gold medallists Charlotte Dujardin and Laura Tomlinson will star in a dressage display after the Global Champions Tour grand prix in London on 8 June.
Organisers expect the “Evening of Dressage” to showcase the sport that won Team GB team gold and individual gold and bronze medals at London 2012. The highlight of the programme is Charlotte and Laura’s pas de deux, when they will perform a routine especially prepared for the occasion.
There is also an educational slant to the evening, which will open with an explanation of dressage by Andrew Gould and Kirsty Mepham, presenting all the movements up to grand prix.
Five international riders — Amy Stovold, Dan Sherriff, Bobby Hayler, Michael Eilberg and Roland Tong — will then perform freestyle to music routines, followed by an eight-horse quadrille display.
Event director Peter Phillips said: “We always wanted dressage to play a part in the London leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour and I am delighted that we have managed to organise this. It should be a great spectacle and the perfect way to finish off an extraordinary day of competition.”
The Evening of Dressage is scheduled for 6pm on 8 June at the International Quarter, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford.
